Comin' In Hot

Greetings Blog Fans. I've had a lot going on this week writing-wise (I'm neck-deep in the production of Ravens Way Review #4), so I haven't had much time to devote to this site. However, I did manage to post a new (and lengthy!) installment of This Week In Strange Music, which is special for me in many ways. First, it sort of celebrates my newfound love for garage rock. Second, it tells the tale of how I came to own a hard to find (because I made it that way) garage rock record. And third, I play a song from a rather obscure record that my friend's dad played drums on. So, not only do you get to check out some cool music, but I've provided some fun stories to go along with it. Check it out!

But wait, there's more!

In addition to This Week in Strange Music, you can also read a new installment in The Adventures of Guy Verbose. This time around, Guy engages in some bedtime procrastination and thinks about autonomy.

And there's still more!

On the Butter Lamb Blog, you'll find a transcript of a two-part conversation from 2021 between Bowdoin College's Margaret E. Boyle and Amherst College's Ilan Stavans. The subject is dictionaries and what they might tell us about cultural crises and the politics of nationality.

Okay, I lied. I found the time to add stuff to this site.

Stay cool, babies. (Seriously, it's hot out there.)

More New Stuff!

Greetings Race Fans, Joe3 here to tell you about the new content on the Joe3Smith family of blogs, and some other stuff in the works.

New Stuff on the Blog:

First up, there's a new installment of Guy Verbose: Introverted Private Eye titled, "The Big Conversation." This time around, guy marvels at his wife's ability to converse with strangers, even if they suddenly knock on the door when you're trying to watch reruns of Law and Order.

Second, if you're tried of reading, you can listen to new some more strange music that I've assembled for you in issue #2 of the aptly titled, This Week in Strange Music. This time around, you can hear tracks from Germany's Gruftschlampen, America's Wred Fright, and a live recording of a six-year-old performance by stoner metal gods Sleep.

And finally, on the Butter Lamb Blog, I investigate the words "Heat Avoidance" and "Shylock".

Other New Stuff in the Works:

Issue #4 of The Ravens Way Review is in production and should be ready by the end of July. You can expect all the usual departments and sections (What's Going On, Commentary, True Stories), a ton of zine reviews, notes on the issue, and maybe even some reader letters. Stay tuned to this space for information on a release date. And by the way, if you missed any back issues, you can get them via the link above. Dig it.

Finally, Clown Teeth, the project band I'm in with my brother, will soon release a 5-song EP consisting of all new material. These jams are a bit of a departure from our previous work, but don't worry, they still feature that weird Clown Teeth vibe you've come to know and respect. Stay tuned for details ... and you can look forward to a track or two appearing in a future episode of This Week in Strange Music.
